Some have been want to say that an ordained minister today cannot say anything other than what Mr. Armstrong said. But that's not what Mr. Armstrong taught. In fact, he taught that it is the function or job of other ministers to fill in the details. Of course, what other minister's may preach should not contradict anything that God taught us through Mr. Armstrong -- and God corrected Mr. Armstrong on anything we needed to have corrected before He allowed Mr. Armstrong to die. Below are quotes on this from Mr. Armstrong in the cited sermon.
Mr. Armstrong's Job to Give Us the Basic Foundation -- the Trunk - vs. - Other Minister's to Fill In Details
The following is verbatim from an October-1983 Sermon
entitled, ''The Trunk of the Tree''
by Herbert W. Armstrong:
'' We need to keep these things basically in mind because they are the foundation, and all the other things of how we must live as Christian lives fit within the framework of this general outline and foundation that I have given you this afternoon. I can see that it’s my job to give you this basic foundation, primarily -- and the other ministers -- in other words, I’m giving you THE TRUNK OF THE TREE — the roots and the trunk and the major branches -- and the others [the other ministers] fill in with the smaller branches, and its smaller branches . . . and the little twigs.
''And all those are important too. They are all part of the same tree.
''But it’s all part of the same overall purpose of God, and it’s a wonderful purpose. It’s a wonderful thing that we have been called to such a high calling. It’s clear beyond anything you can possibly imagine.''
